The Latest College Football Recruiting Rankings 2021

As 2021’s recruiting classes close, the battle lines for on-field success have been redrawn. The latest college football team recruiting rankings 2021 reflect the results of signing days and give a glimpse at which programs are trending in the right direction or in the wrong one.

Alabama is the clear leader in these rankings with a class that looks like it will be the best in the country. The Crimson Tide have built up enough talent to hold off the likes of Ohio State, Georgia and LSU if they can keep their current momentum rolling when the regular season begins.

Outside of the top three, there has been a lot of movement throughout these football recruiting rankings as big days from Oregon, USC, Notre Dame and others have reshuffled the pack. Penn State is a particularly interesting case as it’s building off a strong run that could have the Nittany Lions trending up rather than down in these rankings over time.

It was another big day for the Ducks, who held off surging USC for the Pac-12 recruiting crown thanks to a late addition from No. 5 nickel prospect Avante Dickerson. The Trojans did a solid job of keeping SoCal prospects at home and struck it rich with the signing of SI99 linebacker Raesjon Davis from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, a prospect who was considered by the likes of LSU and Ohio State down the stretch.

LSU’s struggles in 2020 were largely a thing of the past as the Tigers cleaned up in Louisiana and landed some top-100 prospects from Texas, Alabama and beyond. This is a team that appears poised to bounce back with a big regular season and more top-10 recruiting classes.

Tennessee is the last team in the top five that’s a program that doesn’t have a recent history of landing high-profile recruits. That will change next year when the Vols add some depth to their lineup with the signing of No. 2 OT Kayvon Thibodeaux and No. 3 WR Justin Flowe.

The SEC has plenty of representation in the top 10 as Tennessee, Florida and Georgia all landed quality recruits to help them close out their respective classes. Those three teams combined for four of the top six classes in the conference this year.

This ranking is based on the 247Sports team talent composite, which takes into account a variety of factors that don’t involve just how many stars a school has in its class. That includes the number of players who are rated as three-stars or higher, transfer departures and NFL Draft exits. As such, this isn’t an accurate reflection of the overall strength of a team or the current standing in the Power Rankings. But it gives a snapshot of the recruiting class that every school in the top 25 is working with and where each is headed.
