The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League has announced the Football Championship brackets. This year, 73 teams will compete for the football championship. The championship game is set for Nov. 26-27. The winner of each classification moves onto the PIAA Championship bracket. Here’s how to determine who will be the top seed in each bracket.
There are two types of football brackets: man and zone. Man brackets are generally used to cover two wide receivers while zone coverage is used to cover multiple receivers. There are also two types of bracket coverage: the In/Out bracket and the horizontal bracket. This type of coverage can help the defense eliminate mismatches and give the defensive coordinator leverage on deep routes.
Super Bowl seeding plays an important role in determining who advances to the Super Bowl. The higher seed plays at home. This means that the higher seed will host the first round of the playoffs. Similarly, the higher seed will host the second round. The second round will be held in the northern or southern half of the region. However, the best seed is not always the highest seed. To avoid the upsets, make sure to check out the teams’ schedules.
After the first round, there will be conference championship games. The two winners of each conference will go on to play in the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is played at a neutral location. The AFC and NFC will face each other for the right to represent their conference in the championship game. The AFC and NFC will meet on the second weekend of February 2022 to determine the winner of each conference.
During the first round, the top four teams in each conference would receive first-round byes. The other eight teams would play each other in the next round. The first-round games would take place on the home field of the higher-ranked team. The semifinals would be hosted by the six bowls. The winner of the bracket would face either San Dimas or St. Margaret’s in the semifinals.
As with any other type of playoff game, NFL playoff brackets aren’t the same as traditional football brackets. In the second round, the top seeds from each conference play against the lowest seed in the other conference. In other words, the lowest seed advances to the Divisional playoffs, while the second-best seed advances to the third.
Teams with identical records can also advance to the playoffs if they win their division. In these instances, a tiebreaker is applied. If a tie can’t be broken, the team with the better won-lost-tied percentage is eliminated. If there are multiple division ties, the tie-breaker is best-net touchdowns.
