Jacksonville is in a very tough spot after the loss to the Titans. Owner Shad Khan has a plan for Newton, and the offense must improve its turnovers, but they’ve been abysmal as of late. Head coach Gus Bradley has criticized quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s lack of accuracy, and he has already thrown four interceptions. But, despite his inexperience, Newton is still an elite quarterback, and his defense is improving.
Meanwhile, the Texans and Jaguars have been eliminated from playoff contention, and a loss for either team could cost them a top-3 pick. In addition, the Texans have lost two straight, and their odds of landing the top draft pick have dropped. If they win, the Jaguars would rise to a 2.5% chance of landing the second-highest pick. The Vikings have two WRs who have increased their yardage in consecutive games.
Seattle and LA were originally scheduled to play on Sunday, but the Rams have been placed into a COVID-19 protocol due to a high number of positive tests for the offensive line. The Seahawks, however, won their first meeting on Sunday, and Russell Wilson had his best game since having surgery on his finger. Moreover, the Seahawks are a 4-3 underdog this season, and CBS Sports Senior NFL analyst Pete Prisco likes the Seahawks to cover in Los Angeles.
The NFL has proved that anybody can beat anyone on any given week. With five games featuring double-digit spreads, seven of them are favored by a touchdown or more. Nonetheless, it’s still worth considering that a team as small as the Bengals can beat the favored Denver Broncos, or a Titan as a 1-point underdog against the Steelers. It’s an interesting week for shrewd bettors.
The Week 15 NFL schedule doesn’t feature many high-profile matchups, but it does provide some clarity on the playoff picture. The Chargers can jump back into the AFC West with a win over the Chiefs, while a loss will plunge them back into the AFC wild card muck. The Browns and Raiders are both de-facto elimination games for their respective teams. The Patriots-Colts matchup is a key game in the AFC South and the No. 1 seed battle.
In the NFC South, Tampa Bay has a good chance of clinching the NFC South. With losses from San Francisco and Minnesota, it has a slim chance of advancing to the playoffs. The Steelers and Ravens are also in the playoff hunt. If any of these teams wins, their chances will increase to 80%, while if they lose, they will drop to 18%. But if they lose, the Tampa Bay receivers will be a must-have for fantasy football.
As for the rest of the division, the Denver Broncos are the hot team this week. They blew out the Arizona Cardinals last week, posting 358 yards of total offense. The Bengals allowed 316 yards of offense, despite their lack of offense. The combination of Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams was enough to put up three rushing touchdowns. But the Bengals’ defense allows an average of 81.3 rushing yards per road game, which makes them a very dangerous matchup.
